Butt Lift

A butt lift is a procedure that aims to tighten and lift the buttocks giving better contour and shape. This procedure is relatively new; however, this has become a very popular elective surgery for people who want to have a better looking and more shapely body. This operation can be performed on its own or as part of a total body lift procedure which involves lifting other parts of the body as well. For those who want fuller and rounder buttocks, butt implants can also be placed right after the lifting procedure.

Butt Lift Procedure

The consultation session is very important to any surgical procedure. Before the surgery, our surgeons discuss the procedure with you. They explain how the procedure will go and answer any questions you may have. It is during this period that patients can get an idea of what their buttocks will look like after the surgery. After the consultation, the patient will be given pre-operative instructions and the surgery will be scheduled soon after.

A butt lift is an outpatient procedure, so patients are asked to arrange for someone to drive them home from the surgical center or hospital. On the day of the surgery, patients are given general anesthesia to put them to sleep for the duration of the operation. The surgeon then makes an incision and proceeds to tighten and lift the tissues and muscles in each buttock. Liposuction may be needed if there are stubborn fat deposits that need to be removed to get the desired shape and size for the buttocks. If the patient opts to have butt augmentation as well, the surgeon inserts the implants in each buttock after the lifting procedure. The last part of the procedure involves trimming off the excess skin and closing the incisions using sutures. When the surgery is over, the patient is placed in the recovery room and will be released with post-operative instructions several hours after the procedure.

Recovery Time

As an outpatient procedure, patients are expected to follow the post-operative instructions given by the surgeon, especially during the first 2 or 3 days after the surgery. Painkillers may be prescribed to help with the pain and discomfort which will diminish as soon as the swelling goes down. The downtime for a butt lift is approximately 2 weeks or more. During this time, patients are advised not to sit down for this duration and to use special cushions or an inflatable ring if the patient really needs to sit down for any reason. A compression garment may be needed to keep the buttocks in place while the incisions are healing. After the initial healing period of about 2 to 4 weeks, it would be safe to go back to work, provided that not a lot of sitting down is required.
